BOSTON — A man was executed inside a new luxury apartment complex in Allston just after 10:27 p.m. Friday, and the Boston Police Department Homicide Unit is now hunting the gunman.
Officers from District D-14 in Brighton responded to a radio call for a person shot inside a building at 20 Rugg Road — a new upscale apartment complex in the middle of Allston's Boston Landing / Allston Yards redevelopment corridor. When they arrived they found the man inside with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead, according to the Boston Police Department.
The Homicide Unit is now "actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident," the department said. Detectives have not released the victim's name, age, or any details about a suspect or motive. No arrests have been made.

Friday night's killing pushes Boston's summer of gunfire into a corner of the city that isn't a regular fixture on the homicide beat. Allston's Rugg Road corridor is anchored by new luxury apartment buildings built during the Allston Yards / Boston Landing redevelopment — the kind of neighborhood the city has been using in glossy pitch decks to attract lab tenants and post-college renters.
The Homicide Unit worked another Boston killing on Wednesday, when a man was shot and killed in broad daylight on Dorchester's York Street just before noon. Two BPD officers were also nearly killed the same night when a gunman opened fire on their cruiser during a traffic stop at Blue Hill Avenue and Normandy Street.
Friday's Allston homicide is the fourth serious BPD shooting scene in six days.
