The robbery happened at about 4:44 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at West Ninth Street in South Boston, where an 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother were selling lemonade. Two masked suspects made "several passes by the stand," police said, before walking up and asking whether the stand accepted Apple Pay.

Before the kids could answer, one of the suspects reached into their setup and grabbed the cash box. The other then "intentionally displayed a black firearm in his waistband." Both fled the block on foot.
Boston Police District C-6 detectives worked the case for weeks, releasing surveillance stills of the two masked suspects and asking for public help identifying them.

Case closed

The other suspect in the pair — the second arrest in the case — was previously taken into custody on June 12. Thursday's voluntary surrender closes out the pair.
The 14-year-old who turned himself in Thursday will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on three charges: Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery (two counts) and Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Firearm Without a License. BPD did not release the juvenile's name, mugshot or specific description, citing juvenile-justice protections.
