BOSTON — Boston Police have arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male in the gunpoint robbery of a kids' lemonade stand in South Boston on Wednesday, the department said Friday — and BPD is still hunting the second suspect.
Detectives assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) made the arrest on Friday, June 12, the department said in an update on the investigation. The 14-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on four charges: Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery (two counts) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (two counts).
BPD did not specify which of the two original suspects the arrested 14-year-old is. Boston Police had earlier described the two suspects as approximately 11 and 14 years old.

The arrest comes 48 hours after the original armed robbery of an 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother who were running a lemonade stand at West Ninth Street in South Boston. According to BPD, the two masked teenagers walked up to the stand at approximately 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 and asked the children whether the stand accepted Apple Pay as payment. Before the kids could answer, the suspects grabbed the cash box. One of them then displayed a black firearm in his waistband before both fled the area on foot.

The second suspect is still out there

Boston Police did not release the name, mugshot or description of the 14-year-old, citing juvenile-justice protections, and have not yet identified the second suspect. BPD's update Friday asked the public to come forward with any information about the second suspect captured on the clearer surveillance stills the department released earlier this week.

How to help

Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to contact BPD District C-6 Detectives directly at (617) 343-4742. Anonymous tips can be submitted through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting TIP to CRIME (27463).
This is a developing story.
