DORCHESTER — Boston Police are asking the public for help locating 17-year-old Sy'Rai Avery, who walked out of her Browning Avenue home around 6 p.m. Thursday and has not been heard from since.

Avery is described as a Black female, 6-foot-2 and roughly 200 pounds, with long brown and blonde braids. She has a tattoo of roses on her left forearm. When she left her Dorchester home Thursday evening, she was wearing a blue baseball jersey and black biker shorts.

Police say Avery has ties to Cambridge, meaning the search extends beyond Boston city limits. Investigators have not disclosed the circumstances of her disappearance and have not indicated whether foul play is suspected, but the department's public alert — issued nearly two full days after she was last seen — suggests officers have exhausted the leads immediately available to them and need eyes on the ground.
