BROCKTON — A Guatemalan illegal immigrant with arrests for beating a family member, wielding a dangerous weapon and violating two separate court protection orders — plus a prior conviction for one of them — was pulled off Brockton streets by federal immigration authorities this week.

Lopez also has a prior conviction for violation of a restraining order, according to the agency.

The four fresh charges span the exact tools Massachusetts courts use to protect the people around domestic abusers — a restraining order and an abuse prevention order — and Lopez is accused of blowing off both. The dangerous-weapon count sits on top of a straight family assault charge. Neither the type of weapon nor the identity of the victim was released by ICE.

The prior conviction is the same category as one of the new arrests: violation of a restraining order. In Massachusetts, that offense carries up to two and a half years in a house of correction on a first offense.

Announcing the arrest, ERO Boston framed it as another piece of the field office's push to remove criminal noncitizens from New England communities.

Brockton is one of more than half a dozen Massachusetts communities where ICE Boston has publicized criminal-alien arrests in the past week — a stretch that has also included Wrentham, Whitman, Fall River and Clinton.

Lopez is now in federal immigration custody.
