BOSTON — A 16-year-old girl turned her own attacker into MBTA Transit Police using something he never noticed she was holding — her phone.
The man boarded an MBTA bus near the Beth Israel bus stop in the Longwood Medical Area around 3 p.m. Friday, June 12, and indecently assaulted the teen twice before another rider stepped in to try to stop him, Transit Police said.

His response to the Good Samaritan: he dumped a drink on her.
But while everyone else was reacting, the 16-year-old victim quietly raised her phone and took a photo of him.
That picture is what cracked the case. Multiple MBTA Transit Police units tracked the suspect down using the victim's photo, the department said, and arrested him within hours. He was brought to Transit Police headquarters for booking.
His name has not yet been publicly released.
