The robbery happened at approximately 4:44 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, in the area of West Ninth Street, BPD said in a release Thursday morning. The suspects, according to the BPD account, made several passes by the stand before approaching the two children — an 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother — and asking whether the stand accepted Apple Pay as payment. Before the kids could respond, one of the suspects grabbed the cash box. The other then displayed a black firearm in his waistband before both fled the area.

The children's father told CBS Boston the kids put their hands up and let the suspects take whatever they wanted. "I'm pretty disgusted with it. They're young children. They're 11 and 12 years old. It was in the middle of broad daylight," he said. "It's outrageous that in such a good community that we can have something like this happen."
