BOSTON — Boston Police rushed to an Astoria Street home in Mattapan late Monday night and found two people stabbed inside — one of them with injuries so severe that homicide detectives were called to take over the scene, the department said.
The 911 call came in shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, sending Boston Police officers to a home on Astoria Street in the heart of Mattapan. When officers got inside, they found two stabbing victims. One was in a life-threatening condition and was rushed to a Boston hospital; the second victim was also seriously hurt.
By the time the scene was cordoned off and the crime-scene tape was up, Boston Police homicide detectives had been called in to take over the case — a signal BPD treats this stabbing with the same investigative weight as a completed killing.

Astoria Street runs through the central-Mattapan grid. Mattapan has been one of the city neighborhoods that has weighed most heavily in Boston's violent-crime conversation in recent years, and BPD's homicide unit has been a near-permanent presence in the neighborhood during that stretch.
This is a developing story.
