BOSTON — A Cuban illegal immigrant living in Boston with a record of 85 prior arraignments and convictions — including drug trafficking and a previous charge for indecent assault and battery on a child — has been arrested by ICE Boston and is now in federal custody pending removal, the agency announced Monday on its official X account.
ICE Boston's Enforcement and Removal Operations division identified the suspect as Pedro Fundora-Vasquez, a Cuban national whom the agency described as a "criminal illegal alien." The arrest happened during what ICE called "targeted operations" in Boston on Wednesday, April 22.

According to ICE Boston's public summary, Fundora-Vasquez's criminal history in the United States runs to 85 arraignments and convictions, including:
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Trafficking marijuana
  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon
  • Resisting arrest
  • Threatening
  • Assault
  • A prior charge for indecent assault and battery on a child
  • A pending charge for possession of cocaine
ICE provided no detail on which Boston-area municipalities the underlying state cases ran through, nor on how many of the 85 entries resulted in convictions versus arraignments that were dismissed.

Custody and removal

ICE Boston said Fundora-Vasquez "will remain in ICE custody pending removal" — the formal term for deportation. Cuba presents an unusual deportation logistics problem for U.S. immigration enforcement, with Havana historically refusing or delaying acceptance of returnees, and there is no public timeline on when Fundora-Vasquez would actually be put on a plane.
The April 22 arrest was made public on social media on Monday, June 8.
