BOSTON — Boston police are hunting the man pictured in the surveillance photo below — wanted in connection with the early-Sunday stabbing of a man outside a South Boston bar.
The Boston Police Department released a Community Alert Tuesday afternoon asking the public for help identifying a suspect from a May 31 group attack outside the Croke Bar at 254 West Broadway.

What police say happened

Officers responded to a fight call at the Croke Bar at approximately 2:43 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, and found a male victim on scene with multiple stab wounds.
According to the BPD release, the victim had been jumped in a physical altercation by a group of males outside the bar at last call. After the stabbing, the suspects fled on foot toward C Street.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect description

What BPD released, in total: one photo of a man with a beard, prominent tattoos, no shirt, jeans, black sneakers, and the waistband of what may at one point have been called underwear. Behind him in the photo: a streetlight, an American flag, and the unmistakable architecture of South Boston. The picture says everything the press release will not.
No name has been released. No age. No height. Police did not say which bar he had been in before deciding the shirt was optional.
If you, for any reason, were in the company of a shirtless, tattooed, bearded man on West Broadway around last call this past Sunday, the Boston Police Department would like to hear from you.
