The Cambridge bus bulletin is the latest in a steadily growing string of indecent assaults on MBTA buses and trains over the past several months.
- March 26, 2026 — Silver Line / Mass Ave & Washington. A 41-year-old Boston man, Michael Vandenbroeke, was charged with indecent assault and battery after authorities say he boarded an MBTA bus, picked up a perfume bottle the driver had dropped, then grabbed her face, poked her in the eye, and groped her chest. He pleaded not guilty.
- May 19, 2026 — Green Line / Park Street. A man who had been touching a toddler's feet inside a stroller became aggressive when the boy's mother told him to stop, repeatedly demanded her phone number, and at one point grabbed the boy's leg. Transit Police detained him near Chauncy and Summer streets.
- January 3, 2025 — Red Line / Davis Square. A suspect allegedly indecently assaulted a teenage victim at the Davis Square station around 10 p.m. MBTA Transit Police are still seeking that suspect.
- 2026 — MBTA bus, Middlesex County. Police are seeking a man accused of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl on a Massachusetts bus.
All of the cases share a similar pattern — public-transit riders alone or with their children, a stranger pressing close, and a suspect who slips off the bus or train before officers can get there.
