BOSTON — Federal immigration agents have caught up with a Brazilian illegal alien who skipped out on his Massachusetts criminal case for allegedly beating a family member and leaning on the witness.
ICE Boston announced the arrest of Cesar Eduardo Campos Da Silva in a May 19 post on X, calling him a "criminal illegal alien from Brazil" with active state warrants out for his arrest.

Campos Da Silva had been charged in Massachusetts state court with assault and battery on a family or household member and intimidation of a witness, according to ICE Boston. He defaulted on those charges — court-speak for skipping out — and the court issued warrants for his arrest. Those warrants apparently weren't enough to bring him in. Federal officers were.
It's the second arrest this month by ICE Boston of an illegal alien in Massachusetts with the same charge profile. Earlier in May, agents picked up a Haitian illegal alien with open Massachusetts charges for rape, strangulation, beating a family member, and — the familiar kicker — witness intimidation. Same charge pattern. Same outcome. Federal officers showing up where state warrants couldn't.
It comes during an active standoff between the Healey administration and federal immigration enforcement. The governor moved to block ICE from getting undercover license plates through the state's Registry of Motor Vehicles earlier this month. The DOJ told her she had until May 22 to fix it.
ICE Boston did not say where in Massachusetts Campos Da Silva was picked up or where he is being held pending removal proceedings. The pending state charges remain unproven; he has not been convicted of any of the underlying offenses.
