BOSTON — The family of Robert T. "Bobby" Kilduff Jr., the Boston firefighter killed Saturday night battling a 3-alarm blaze in Dorchester, will have their family home paid off and receive support for his two adult children's education, the head of the national firefighters union said Monday.
Edward A. Kelly, general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, said on X that Frank Siller, founder of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, personally called Kilduff's children Monday with the news.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, based in New York, pays off mortgages for the families of military members and first responders killed in the line of duty. It was founded in honor of Frank Siller's brother Stephen, an FDNY firefighter who died at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Kilduff, 53, of West Roxbury, was a 24-year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, a Marine Corps veteran, and a third-generation firefighter. He was assigned to Rescue 2. His father and grandfather wore the uniform before him.
Saturday night, he climbed to the third floor of a burning wood-frame home at 18 Treadway Road in Dorchester. At some point during the fight, he fell. Boston EMS rushed him to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced. Boston Fire announced his death just before 12:40 a.m. Sunday.
Five residents of the home made it out alive.
Fire Commissioner Rodney Marshall called the death a "heartbreaking loss" for the department.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by the Greg Hill Foundation is raising additional money for Kilduff's family. The foundation is matching donations up to $10,000.
The wake will be held Sunday, May 31, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington Street, in the South End, Boston 25 reported.
