DORCHESTER — A morning at Dorchester District Court turned into a brawl Wednesday after a fight broke out on the second floor of the courthouse — and then a second altercation erupted minutes later in the holding area, ending with five arrests and an officer reportedly hit by a suspect's saliva, Boston Police said.
Officers assigned to the courthouse at 510 Washington Street were alerted to the fight around 10:04 a.m. on May 20, 2026, according to a statement from Boston Police. By the time officers reached the second floor, the altercation had ended, but law enforcement officers from several agencies were still working to separate the parties involved.

The five males were moved to the courthouse holding area to keep them from further disrupting court proceedings. While officers waited for transport, police say one of the detainees — a handcuffed juvenile — allegedly kicked another male in the group, then attempted to spit on him. He missed his target, police said, and instead struck an officer with his saliva.

The Charges

All five are charged with Affray and Disrupting Court Proceedings. According to police, the four adults arrested are:
  • Syncere Johnson, 19, of Dorchester
  • Damontay Brown, 20, of Boston
  • Shamar Passley-Clark, 19, of Dorchester
  • Terrel Stokes, 19, of Dorchester
The fifth suspect, a 17-year-old male from Dorchester, was not publicly named because he is a juvenile. Police say he faces additional charges of Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
All five are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
