BOSTON — ICE Boston cuffed a Brazilian fugitive Wednesday after years on the run in Massachusetts — and according to federal officials, his crime back home was so violent it left the victim's eyes torn from his skull and his brain completely crushed.
The federal agency announced the arrest on its official X account Friday morning, in a four-post thread laying out the case against John Lenon Sena Rosa.

The murder

According to ICE, Sena Rosa committed murder by stabbing the victim with a knife until the blade broke — then striking the victim in the head with a piece of wood and a helmet. In a follow-up post in the same thread, the agency described the aftermath in clinical language.

The phrase ICE used — "avulsion of the victim's eyes and complete crushing of the brain" — is medical-examiner terminology. Avulsion is the forcible tearing-away of body tissue. The agency said either injury on its own was sufficient to cause death.

How he got here

After the murder, Sena Rosa fled Brazil. ICE says he slipped into the United States illegally in 2022 — during what the agency called "the Biden administration's open border disaster." Brazilian authorities issued a criminal arrest warrant for him on March 21, 2025, more than two years after he had already disappeared into the US.
That warrant gave ICE the international hook it needed. On May 13, agents arrested him.
The booking photo ICE released shows Sena Rosa in handcuffs, wearing a gray "PB Construction" work shirt and flanked by two officers in tactical gear, standing in front of a white SUV. He was apparently working in the construction trade in Massachusetts at the time of the arrest.

"The monsters sanctuary politicians will fight to protect"

ICE made the political reading of the case explicit in its closing post of the thread.
Sena Rosa will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
Brazil, as ICE noted earlier in the thread, has had a warrant out for him for over a year.
