Felony warrant, fake ID, loaded Glock — Marlon Straw's bad day at 26 Westview Street

Boston Police officers patrolling District B-3 spotted the Hyde Park man, 54, in a group near 26 Westview Street. They say he allegedly tried to walk away — and to pass off a US Virgin Islands license that wasn't his — before they recovered a loaded Glock 27 from his waistband.

DORCHESTER — He didn't run. He walked. Slowly. Further and further away from the officers who'd already spotted him in the crowd.
It didn't work.
Boston Police officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) on patrol near 26 Westview Street around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, May 12 recognized a man among a larger group of individuals, according to BPD. A records check turned up an active felony warrant out of West Roxbury District Court.

As officers approached, the suspect allegedly began drifting away. When they caught up, he allegedly handed over a US Virgin Islands license bearing someone else's name.
That didn't work either.
Officers positively identified him, placed him under arrest, and searched him. Tucked into the front of his waistband: a Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition.
Marlon Straw, 54, of Hyde Park, is now charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License — Third Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition — Subsequent Offense, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Armed Career Criminal Level Three. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The fake license, the slow walk, the loaded Glock — none of it changed the outcome. BPD officers had already made him before he ever opened his mouth.
