Polymer80, no serial, flashlight attached — 16-year-old allegedly riding around Dorchester with a ghost gun

ShotSpotter ping at 2:34 a.m., traffic stop at 2:39 a.m., loaded high-capacity ghost gun in the back seat

DORCHESTER — A 2:34 a.m. ShotSpotter ping on Geneva Avenue. A witness who saw a man in a black puffer jacket climb into the back of an old Infiniti. A five-minute response, a traffic stop on Dorchester Avenue, and a loaded Polymer80 ghost gun on the rear floorboard.
That is the through-line in Boston Police's account of how District C-11 officers ended their Sunday-morning shift with a 16-year-old in cuffs and another untraceable firearm off the street.
According to Boston Police, officers raced to the area of 362 Geneva Avenue early Sunday after a ShotSpotter activation. Residents told them they had heard a gunshot. A witness pointed officers to the corner of Geneva Avenue and Oakley Street, where she had seen a man in a black puffer jacket and black sweatpants slide into the rear passenger seat of a dark-colored older-model Infiniti sedan that then peeled off toward Fields Corner.

Officers recovered ballistic evidence at the corner. Five minutes after the initial activation, at 2:39 a.m., they pulled over a dark-colored Infiniti matching the description on Dorchester Avenue.
Through the window, officers spotted what they believed to be a firearm on the rear floorboard, according to the department. They ordered everyone out of the car.
The gun was a Polymer80 9mm pistol — the build-it-yourself ghost gun with no serial number. It had a flashlight attachment, 11 rounds in the magazine, and one in the chamber. The magazine itself was a 17-round high-capacity model.
A 16-year-old male occupant was arrested at the scene and booked at District C-11.
The teen is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on four delinquency charges: carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Police did not say whether the teen is suspected of being the shooter.
