The incident happened at 12:22 PM on Friday, May 1. Officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the radio call and spoke with the victim, who described the encounter. Unarmed robbery, in Massachusetts, doesn't require a weapon — only force or threat of force during the taking. The blow during the getaway is what elevates this from shoplifting.
Officers canvassed the area. They came up empty.
Detectives at District B-3 can be reached at (617) 343-2286. Anonymous tips go to the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS, by text — "TIP" to CRIME (27463) — or online via Boston Police CrimeStoppers.
