HOLYOKE — A 33-year-old Holyoke man is facing 11 charges after the FBI's Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force and Holyoke police raided his apartment early Friday morning and found two illegal firearms, a trafficking weight of cocaine and a trafficking weight of fentanyl.
Luis Sanchez was arrested at approximately 4:30 a.m. on April 3 when officers executed a search warrant at his apartment at 771 Dwight Street. Investigators had already obtained an arrest warrant for Sanchez on drug trafficking charges.
Inside, officers recovered two illegal firearms — one equipped with an extended magazine capable of holding 17 rounds of ammunition. They also seized approximately 1,500 vials of cocaine weighing 23.5 grams and approximately 800 bags of suspected fentanyl weighing 20 grams.

The raid came one day after Springfield police pulled over Sanchez's brother, Manuel Sanchez, 33, of Southampton, during a motor vehicle stop on Thursday. Manuel had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Hampden Superior Court for cocaine and suspected fentanyl trafficking.
According to Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan, the narcotics shown in the FBI's photo were seized during an earlier phase of the same investigation — a haul that led to the arrest warrants being issued for both brothers.

The outstanding warrants tell a bigger story. Luis Sanchez is also wanted for trafficking a Class A drug in excess of 200 grams and trafficking a Class B drug between 100 and 200 grams — quantities far larger than what was recovered from the apartment on Friday.
Sanchez faces 11 charges in total: cocaine trafficking (18-36 grams), fentanyl trafficking (more than 10 grams), possession of ammunition without an FID card, two counts of possession of a firearm without an FID card, improper storage of a firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and the outstanding trafficking warrants.
The investigation is ongoing.
