NEWTON — A 45-year-old woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon that sent her car careening through a fence before slamming into a tree on Walnut Street.
The violent collision occurred around 4:30 PM near the intersection of Walnut Street and Judith Road. According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and Newton Police Chief Timothy Cohoon, the woman's vehicle crashed through a residential fence before striking a tree across the street.

The woman was rushed to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. The other driver involved in the crash was not seriously injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the district attorney's office alongside state and local police. No further details have been released.
