EAST BOSTON — A passing driver who watched a man get stabbed by two masked teenagers on an East Boston street Tuesday night did something most people wouldn't — he got out of his car and took the knife.
The unnamed Good Samaritan was driving through the area of Paris Street around 10 p.m. when he witnessed two males wearing ski masks attacking a man who had refused to hand over his scooter, according to Boston police.
The victim was being stabbed as he tried to flee toward Sumner Street. A second witness reported seeing the suspects making "jabbing gestures" toward the victim's body.
That's when the driver intervened — exiting his vehicle, confronting the armed teens, and physically removing a knife from one of the suspects before discarding it, police said.

The two suspects fled after the intervention.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries — injuries that could have been far worse had the driver kept going.
Police later recovered two knives wrapped together in duct tape and a cell phone at the intersection of Sumner and Paris streets. One of the suspects, a 15-year-old Boston juvenile, returned to the crime scene looking for his phone and was promptly arrested. A ski mask was found among his possessions.
The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault and armed and masked robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk County Juvenile Court. The second suspect remains at large.
The identity of the Good Samaritan has not been released. Boston police did not say whether the driver was injured during the confrontation.
