LUDLOW, Mass. — A Guatemalan illegal immigrant facing seven counts of raping a child was arrested by ICE agents during a targeted operation in this quiet Western Massachusetts town, federal authorities announced Saturday.
Froilan Vasquez-Velasquez was picked up on March 9 by ICE Boston's Enforcement and Removal Operations during what the agency described as "targeted operations" in Ludlow, a small town of about 21,000 residents just east of Springfield.

Seven counts. Of raping a child. And he was walking around a Massachusetts town.
ICE did not disclose how long Vasquez-Velasquez had been living in the United States, when he entered the country, or how he came to be in Ludlow. The agency also did not identify the victim or victims, nor the jurisdiction where the charges are pending.
The arrest is the latest in a string of ICE operations across Massachusetts targeting illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories. In recent weeks alone, the agency has arrested:

- A Brazilian illegal immigrant convicted of armed assault with intent to murder who was living in Massachusetts
- A suspect who beat someone over 60 and assaulted another with a dangerous weapon
- A Honduran illegal immigrant with convictions for assault, narcotics, illegal gun possession, and escaping custody
Governor Maura Healey, who this week launched a state-run portal for residents to report alleged misconduct by ICE agents, has not commented on the arrest.
