LUDLOW, Mass. — A Guatemalan illegal immigrant facing seven counts of raping a child was arrested by ICE agents during a targeted operation in this quiet Western Massachusetts town, federal authorities announced Saturday.
Froilan Vasquez-Velasquez was picked up on March 9 by ICE Boston's Enforcement and Removal Operations during what the agency described as "targeted operations" in Ludlow, a small town of about 21,000 residents just east of Springfield.
According to ICE, Vasquez-Velasquez's criminal history includes pending charges for rape of a child — seven counts — assault to rape a child under 16, and witness intimidation.

Seven counts. Of raping a child. And he was walking around a Massachusetts town.
ICE did not disclose how long Vasquez-Velasquez had been living in the United States, when he entered the country, or how he came to be in Ludlow. The agency also did not identify the victim or victims, nor the jurisdiction where the charges are pending.
The arrest is the latest in a string of ICE operations across Massachusetts targeting illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories. In recent weeks alone, the agency has arrested:
Governor Maura Healey, who this week launched a state-run portal for residents to report alleged misconduct by ICE agents, has not commented on the arrest.
Anyone with information about illegal immigrants suspected of criminal activity is encouraged to contact ICE's tip line at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE.
