ROXBURY — A carjacking suspect is dead after Boston police shot him when he tried to mow down officers with a stolen car during a felony stop in Roxbury late Tuesday night.
The fatal shooting happened around 10 p.m. near 10 Linwood Square, just off Highland Avenue and Centre Street. Officers had boxed in the stolen vehicle when the driver floored it at them, using the car as a weapon.
An officer fired.
The suspect was killed.

The scene that followed was massive. Evidence Detection Teams were activated. Homicide detectives flooded in. Command staff descended on the intersection. BPD locked down a safety corridor just to get the ambulance out — but it was already too late.
Highland Avenue and Centre Street were shut down as investigators worked the scene late into the night.
No officers were seriously injured.
The suspect's identity has not been released. Boston police homicide detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office are investigating.
