BOSTON — A terrified resident opened his front door late Friday night to find a man he recognized standing in the hallway with a gun in his waistband, according to Boston police, setting off a chain of events that ended with two arrests, a loaded firearm pulled from a bathroom cabinet, crack cocaine, and death threats against officers.
The resident at 270 Huntington Avenue in Back Bay told responding officers he knew exactly who the armed man was. The two had a history. During a prior altercation, the suspect had allegedly pulled a knife on him.
This time, it was a gun.
Officers from District D-4 arrived at the building just before 11:30 p.m. on March 6 and made their way to the suspect's apartment. When they knocked and announced themselves, all they heard from the other side of the door was scurrying.

When 47-year-old Dawan Johnson of Boston finally opened the door, a frisk turned up nothing. But officers weren't buying it. Inside the apartment, they found an unknown woman standing in the bedroom and, tucked inside a bathroom cabinet that had been left suspiciously ajar, a loaded firearm.
Neither Johnson nor the woman, 44-year-old Melissa Lincks-Morpeau of Boston, could produce a license to carry.
Things got worse at the station.

During booking, officers discovered several loose rocks of a substance believed to be crack cocaine on Johnson. That's when he allegedly made his feelings about the arrest crystal clear, telling officers he was going to kill their families when he got out.
A records check turned up one more surprise: an outstanding warrant out of Attleboro District Court for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Johnson is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, intimidation of a police official, and possession of a Class B substance. Lincks-Morpeau faces the same firearm-related charges.
Both are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
