BOSTON — ICE agents in Boston arrested a Honduran illegal immigrant this week whose criminal record reads like a greatest hits of violent and drug-related offenses, the agency announced Saturday.

The escape conviction is particularly notable. First-degree escape typically involves fleeing lawful custody using force, threats, or while armed, a detail that raises questions about how Leon-Blandin was free to be living in the community in the first place.
ICE did not specify where in Massachusetts Leon-Blandin was living at the time of his arrest, when he entered the country, or in which jurisdictions his prior convictions occurred.
The arrest is the second ICE Boston announcement this week involving an illegal immigrant with a violent criminal history. On Friday, the agency revealed it had arrested a Brazilian national convicted of indecent assault on a child under 14 who had been living in Massachusetts.
ICE Boston has been ramping up enforcement across the state for months, targeting illegal immigrants with violent criminal records, even as state and city officials have fought to limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Leon-Blandin will remain in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.
