WINTHROP—When a Lynn man refused to exit his Tesla during a drug investigation, Winthrop police didn't waste time negotiating. They broke the windows and pulled him out—finding nearly 19 grams of fentanyl inside.
Ralph Sostre, 39, was arrested March 3 after detectives investigating suspected narcotics distribution near Kennedy Road and Atlantic Street identified his blue 2021 Tesla Model Y. During a motor vehicle stop at Revere Street and Shirley Street, Sostre refused to comply with lawful orders, according to Winthrop Police.
Officers broke the vehicle windows to safely remove him following his continued resistance.
Inside, police seized approximately 18.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 12 grams of suspected cocaine, multiple clear plastic bags, a digital scale, two cellular phones, and over $2,400 in cash. Additional suspected narcotics were recovered during booking.

Sostre now faces charges of trafficking in fentanyl and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
The arrest was part of a coordinated drug sweep that also targeted a Governors Drive residence. On the same day, the Winthrop Police Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, and a Suffolk County Sheriff's Office Task Force officer executed court-authorized search warrants at the address, arresting Tyrone Robinson, 45, of Winthrop.
Robinson was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute—a subsequent offense, meaning he's been down this road before.
Both men were arraigned March 4 in Boston Municipal Court.
Chief John Goodwin praised the collaborative effort: "These arrests and our proactive work reduce drug dealing in Winthrop, making our community safer."
The investigation into the Governors Drive residence remained ongoing at the time of reporting.
