BOSTON — Boston police officers stationed inside the Prudential Center as part of an ongoing shoplifting initiative arrested three suspects in a single hour on Monday evening, recovering stolen merchandise from three different stores, seizing fentanyl and crack cocaine, and taking an assault charge from a suspect who decided fighting cops was a better option than cooperating.
The first bust came at around 6:00 p.m., when officers assigned to District D-4 spotted a man inside the Alo store at 800 Boylston Street concealing an item inside his jacket, according to Boston Police. Officers stopped the man and informed him of the shoplifting investigation. Police observed the suspect pinning his arm to his jacket and recovered the stolen merchandise.
That's when things escalated.
As officers attempted to arrest him, Brandon Frazier, 38, of Boston, began actively resisting by tensing his arms. Multiple officers arrived on scene to assist with handcuffing. During a search, officers found two plastic bags of fentanyl and two plastic bags of crack cocaine in Frazier's bag.
Frazier was charged with shoplifting by asportation (second offense), possession of Class A, possession of Class B, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, and assault and battery on a police officer. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
But the evening at the Pru was just getting started.

Forty minutes later — because apparently one shoplifting arrest wasn't enough for a Monday — officers observed a woman exit the Lululemon store with multiple pieces of merchandise she had not paid for. Officers stopped her on Boylston Street and identified themselves. The stolen merchandise was recovered. The suspect then began to experience a medical issue and was transported to a local hospital. She was advised she would be summonsed to Boston Municipal Court for shoplifting over $250 by asportation.
And if you thought two busts in under an hour meant the Pru was finally done for the night — it was not. At 7:00 p.m., officers watched yet another suspect walk out of the same Lululemon store carrying two jackets he had pulled directly off a display rack. Officers stopped the man and identified themselves.
During a search, officers also recovered stolen merchandise from the Eataly store. Anthony Boisvert, 33, of Boston, was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting by asportation (third offense). Officers also determined Boisvert had two active warrants out of Quincy District Court.

Three suspects. Three stores. One hour. And a drug stash that had nothing to do with shopping.
If it feels like you've read this story before, you have. The Prudential Center has become ground zero for Boston's retail theft epidemic. In February, Canada Goose was looted while police begged the public for help identifying suspects. In November, Lululemon was hit twice in 40 minutes by separate crews. A week before that, a 15-person mob walked out with $4,000 in merchandise from the same store. And just last week, a 71-year-old was viciously beaten steps from the mall.
Mayor Michelle Wu's administration has faced mounting criticism over what critics call a soft-on-crime approach to retail theft in the Back Bay. Retailers have questioned whether the city is doing enough to protect businesses that are increasingly becoming targets.
Monday's D4 shoplifting initiative is the kind of proactive policing that actually produces results — three arrests, drugs seized, warrants served, and stolen merchandise returned to three different stores. The question is whether it's enough to stem a tide that shows no signs of slowing down.
All three arrests were made as part of the D4 shoplifting initiative, an ongoing patrol effort targeting retail theft in the Back Bay.
