They were not part of the road. They were, in fact, trolley tracks. With rails. And overhead wires. At a spot where trains run through one of Brookline's busiest neighborhoods.

The Mercedes, which appears from photos to have sustained a shattered windshield in the process, became wedged on the trolley tracks and had to be towed from the scene. No word on what the repair bill looks like, but safe to assume it's not cheap.
Then things got worse.
After the vehicle was removed, the driver refused to comply with officers' repeated orders to stay out of the roadway. She was ultimately placed under arrest.
To recap: drove a luxury car onto active train tracks at 3 in the morning, got the car stuck, got it towed, and then refused to leave the road until police arrested her. A full evening.
Transit Police did not identify the driver or specify the charges. The intersection of Beacon and St. Paul sits along the Green Line's C branch, where trolley tracks run at street level through Coolidge Corner.
