Law enforcement confirmed Gonzalez-Navarro is a member of the Nortenos, a violent street gang originating in Northern California. His gang affiliation was corroborated by intelligence and what ERO described as "visible gang-related face tattoos."
The arrest comes just days after the Boston City Council voted 9-4 to block the public from learning whether ignored ICE detainers involved actual criminals — a vote one councilor said was pressured by the mayor's office. It also follows a pattern of ICE Boston arrests that have exposed the type of individuals sanctuary policies are shielding from federal immigration enforcement.
ERO Boston said it "remains committed to targeting individuals who pose a threat to the community."
