BOSTON — Rep. Ayanna Pressley announced she will boycott Tuesday's State of the Union address, saying she refuses to "sit and listen to that man spew lies and hate."
"The State of our Union is traumatizing our children and families," Pressley wrote on X. She said she would instead join MoveOn for a livestream "truth telling" event during the speech.

— Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (@RepPressley) February 24, 2026I'm boycotting the #SOTU.
Because I refuse to sit and listen to that man spew lies and hate while the State of our Union is traumatizing our children & families.
Instead, I'll be joining @MoveOn for some truth telling. Tune in to their livestream starting at 8PM.
It's not the first time Pressley has opted for political theater over showing up. The Squad member — who has an estimated $8 million fortune now under scrutiny — has built a brand on outrage.

She previously erupted after a Trump jab at Somalia, claiming it put "every woman in a hijab" at risk. She demanded Haitians be shielded from deportation as TPS deadlines hit. And her ex-con husband was caught on camera knocking a phone out of a reporter's hand mid-question.
Pressley represents Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District, which includes most of Boston.
