BOSTONā Colombia is a beautiful country.
The coffee is world-class. The people are warm. The mountains are stunning.
It's also the birthplace of Pablo Escobar and the 80s drug cartels ā and apparently, Nicander Serna-Bedoya fancied himself a successor.
Serna-Bedoya, a Colombian national with convictions for cocaine trafficking and possession or transport of monetary instruments, was deported from the United States in 2022 after receiving a final order of removal.
Most people would take the hint.

Serna-Bedoya did not.
He snuck right back into the country during the Biden administration's border crisis and landed in Massachusetts ā because of course he did. The Bay State's sanctuary policies have made it a magnet for criminal aliens looking for a safe harbor.
And for a while, it worked. Serna-Bedoya was living freely in New England.
That ended on Feb. 17, when ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston caught up with him.

"His criminal convictions include trafficking in cocaine and possession or transport of monetary instruments," ICE Boston posted. "Serna-Bedoya will remain in ICE custody pending his removal from the United States."
This time, the agency is making sure it sticks.
Serna-Bedoya's arrest is part of a broader 60-day sweep by ICE Boston that has netted more than 80 criminal aliens across New England ā including murderers, child rapists, human traffickers, and gang members.
Massachusetts politicians have long rolled out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants, refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and creating sanctuary jurisdictions that shield criminals from deportation.
ICE Boston has had enough.
"We are removing dangerous criminal aliens to keep our New England communities safe," the agency posted. "Don't let the fake news media fool you ā we are targeting the worst of the worst."
For Serna-Bedoya, the wannabe cartel kingpin, the party is over. He'll have plenty of time to enjoy that Colombian coffee ā back home where he belongs.
