BOSTON — A local socialist group is calling people to Copley Square on Jan. 20 for a rally it’s branding as a national “shutdown” to “stop ICE terror,” according to a flyer and caption circulating online.

The post frames the event as a response to the one-year mark of “Trump 2.0,” and uses language that goes far beyond typical protest rhetoric — accusing the administration of “terrorizing immigrant communities” and claiming taxpayers were used to “bomb 7 countries in 2025 alone.”

It then escalates even further.

“In the first week of 2026,” the caption alleges, the administration “bombed Caracas,” “kidnapped Venezuela’s president,” and “oversaw ICE’s murder of Renee Nicole Good,” before calling on supporters to “hit the streets nationwide” on the anniversary of the inauguration.

The rally promo ends with a chant-like line: “No ICE, no kings, no kidnappers!”

The event details listed on the graphic: Jan. 20 at 5 p.m., Copley Square.

Either way, the message is clear: the group wants maximum confrontation, maximum attention, and a Boston landmark as the backdrop.

Jan. 20, 5 p.m., Copley Square — they’re trying to turn a Tuesday evening into a political street show.
