BOSTON — ICE Boston says it arrested a Brazilian national with a violent and serious criminal history.
In a post on X, ICE Boston said agents arrested Filipe Medeiros Dos Anjos on Jan. 14. ICE says Dos Anjos’ criminal history includes assault and battery on a child with injuries, strangulation, assault and battery with a motor vehicle, DUI, fugitive for justice, and witness intimidation.

ICE Boston’s message is that this is exactly who it’s targeting — people tied to violence, intimidation, and major public-safety threats.

After announcing the arrest, ICE Boston also took aim at what it called “fake news” coverage of immigration enforcement, telling the public: “Don’t let the fake news media fool you — we are targeting the worst of the worst criminals to keep our communities safe!”
The arrest comes as ICE says it is facing growing scrutiny and political pressure, especially in states and cities with “sanctuary” policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. ICE’s argument is that when local leaders restrict coordination, agents still have a duty to go find and arrest high-priority targets — which means more community operations and more flashpoints, even as the same politicians turn around and condemn the results.
ICE Boston is framing the Dos Anjos arrest as a public-safety win — and as a reminder, they say, of what happens when enforcement is treated like a political controversy instead of a basic responsibility to protect residents.
