The disturbing allegations came to light after authorities were notified of "potentially inappropriate social media activity" involving the driver. Following this tip, the police began their investigation on December 8, which led to an escalating series of claims from concerned parents, including one who reported that their child was touched inappropriately.
Authorities reviewed surveillance footage from the school bus, which reportedly confirmed the inappropriate behavior. As the investigation progressed, NRT Bus, the company responsible for transporting Wilmington Public Schools students, suspended the driver pending further inquiries.
"This situation raises serious concerns about safety and oversight in our schools," a spokesperson for the police stated. The driver, who has not yet been publicly identified, will only be named if an arraignment is scheduled.
With multiple allegations surfacing, the community is left reeling from this unsettling incident. Parents are now questioning the protocols in place to protect their children while under the care of school transportation services.
