BOSTON— A male who identifies as transgender has been convicted of second-degree murder in a shocking case that unfolded in a Boston hotel room back in 2021. Ren Rodgers, 28, found guilty of brutally stabbing Christopher Kellar, allegedly cried out, “No one touches my wife,” as he plunged a knife into the victim’s back. Prosecutors described the incident as an explosive culmination of a heated argument that turned deadly.

The crime took place on February 20, 2021, at Hotel Indigo, located at 280 Friend St. Prosecutors revealed that Rodgers, then identifying as male, was in the company of his wife, Kellar (his wife’s brother), and Kellar’s girlfriend when tensions escalated into violence. After a physical altercation erupted between Kellar and his sister, Rodgers picked up a knife, fatally wounding Kellar, who would later succumb to his injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital.
