BOSTON— A shocking scene unfolded during an immigration arrest when a Guatemalan national, Guido Andres Cuellar Batres, unleashed a flurry of violence against federal officers. On October 30, 2025, the 24-year-old pleaded guilty in federal court for forcibly assaulting multiple agents, including trying to bite, headbutt, and spit on them during his apprehension.

The chaotic confrontation erupted on May 4, 2025, when Cuellar, who had overstayed his visa by more than four years, was cornered by federal officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Administration in a Marlborough parking lot. As they approached, Cuellar refused to comply with their orders to exit the vehicle, prompting officers to smash the window and pull him out.

Despite being outnumbered, Cuellar resisted arrest with surprising ferocity. Reports indicate he attempted to bite one officer on the leg and succeeded in biting another on the wrist, while striking that officer in the head several times. Authorities claimed that even after being handcuffed, Cuellar continued his violent antics, jumping around to avoid being placed in the police vehicle and ultimately headbutting one officer and spitting directly in another's face.

Cuellar now faces a potential sentence of up to eight years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fines reaching $250,000 for his egregious actions against law enforcement. Sentencing is set for January 12, 2026, as this case continues to draw attention to the lengths some individuals will go to while resisting arrest.

With federal prosecutors aggressively pursuing the charges, Cuellar’s case serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by officers enforcing immigration laws, as they navigate increasingly volatile situations in the field.
