DORCHESTERāA reckless scooter ride turned into high drama when two gun-toting teens were apprehended after a wild chase through the streets of Dorchester. The Boston Police Department wasted no time in responding to reports of drug use near 97 Woodledge Street around 2:50 PM. Officers spotted one suspect on a scooter, suspiciously bulging at the waistband.
The suspect, identified as Prentice Jones, 18, attempted to escape on the scooter, nearly colliding with an officer before crashing to the ground. As the situation escalated, he reached for his waistband, prompting a struggle with police. Meanwhile, accomplice Tamerat Edelstein-Rosenburg, also 18, tossed a firearm from a fanny pack to Jones, who then picked it up as both suspects made a run for it, leaping over fences in a frantic bid to evade arrest.

Authorities reported that both suspects were quickly apprehended after a frantic foot chase. The firearm in question was determined to be a Ghost gun, loaded with one round in the chamber and twenty rounds in the magazine. Such firearms, untraceable by traditional means, are increasingly a concern for law enforcement.
Jones and Edelstein-Rosenburg face a slew of serious charges, including possession of a firearm without an FID card and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. In addition to those charges, Edelstein-Rosenburg has been accused of assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and trespassing. They are expected to face arraignment in Roxbury District Court soon.
This incident raises alarms about the proliferation of illegal firearms in the hands of teens, prompting questions about safety in the community. As the police blotter reveals, the consequences of such reckless behavior could have been far more severe, leaving both suspects and the public in a precarious situation.
