Boston police recover over two kilos of fentanyl in shocking drug operation sweep

BOSTON— In a dramatic drug enforcement operation that has sent shockwaves through the community, Boston Police have recovered over two kilos of Fentanyl, a deadly opioid, in a series of coordinated raids. The operation highlights a significant crackdown on a dangerous distribution network located in the Southwest Corridor area, following numerous community complaints about rampant drug activity.

Officers from the District D-4 (South End) Drug Control Unit worked tirelessly alongside the Citywide Drug Control Unit to infiltrate the suspected network. Their efforts culminated in search warrants executed at three locations: 176 Stratton Street in Dorchester, 127 Hazelton Street in Mattapan, and 1059 Tremont Street in Roxbury. This operation was bolstered by multiple police units, including the Youth Violence Strike Force and Massachusetts State Police, showcasing the collaborative effort to combat drug trafficking.

During the operation, officers seized more than two kilograms of Fentanyl, alongside drug packaging materials, digital scales, and a staggering $3,000 in cash. Additionally, thirty-two rounds of ammunition were discovered, raising alarms about the potential violence linked to this drug operation.

  • Ricky Wilson Soto-Arias, 36, of Dorchester, faces charges for Trafficking of Class A and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
  • Doris Baez, 37, of Mattapan, is similarly charged with Trafficking of Class A and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
  • Bryan Mejia, 31, and Jeiel Hernandez, 44, both from Mattapan and Boston, respectively, were also charged with Trafficking of Class A.

Additionally, Stephen Smith, 37, of Boston, had outstanding warrants from Roxbury District Court for Breaking and Entering, Nighttime, and Larceny over $250.
