Over 30 illegal alien truck drivers ousted in Oklahoma highway safety sweep

OKLAHOMA CITY— A recent two-day sweep has sent shockwaves through Oklahoma’s highways, as ICE and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol teamed up to remove 34 illegal alien truck drivers from the roads. This operation, dubbed “Operation Guardian,” culminated in the arrest of a staggering 70 illegal aliens, raising serious questions about public safety and the integrity of commercial driving regulations.

Reports indicate that among those apprehended, 26 individuals had been issued Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) from sanctuary states like California, Illinois, and New York, despite their illegal status. Even more alarming, eight were caught driving commercial vehicles without any form of CDL whatsoever. These drivers, some operating 80,000-pound tractor trailers, allegedly posed a significant danger to others on the road.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to ensuring public safety by removing individuals who are illegally operating motor vehicles,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Executive Associate Director Marcos Charles. “Many of the illegal aliens arrested can’t even read basic English, endangering everyone they encounter on the roads.”

The operation also revealed a troubling trend, as 36 of the arrested individuals were identified as criminal aliens with prior convictions for violent offenses, including assault and DUI. Authorities reported that two of these individuals are wanted overseas for fraud and burglary, further highlighting the complexities of the situation.

The illegal aliens apprehended during the operation hailed from an astonishing 15 different countries, including China, Colombia, and Mexico. This alarming revelation points to the broader issues surrounding immigration enforcement and the efficacy of state-issued driving licenses.

As Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt emphasized, “To lawfully operate a commercial motor vehicle in Oklahoma, you must be here legally and you must be able to understand English.” The focus on public safety has never been more crucial, and this operation serves as a clear message that illegal activity in the trucking industry will not be tolerated.

With the stakes so high, the fallout from this operation will likely resonate throughout the state as officials continue to grapple with the implications of illegal driving licenses and the ongoing battle against illegal immigration.
