BOSTON — Halloween on the MBTA took a terrifying turn when a rider was allegedly beaten at State Street Station — and now Transit Police have released shocking images of several people they want to identify.
The late-night attack happened around 11 p.m. on October 31. Police say the victim was assaulted “without provocation” inside the station, leaving riders rattled and officials scrambling for answers.
Transit Police have released clear surveillance stills from the train. The individuals are not named or charged but are wanted for identification as part of the investigation.
One image shows a man in a dark sweatshirt and blue face covering pointing toward the camera, holding a phone. A large tattoo is clearly visible on the back of his right hand.

Boston officials may insist the system is safe — but when riders are allegedly attacked on a busy downtown line on Halloween night, without warning, the public isn’t buying the “safest city” storyline anymore.
The search is ongoing.
