Ten indicted in shocking sex trafficking case, including local grandmother

LYNN— Ten defendants, including a 68-year-old grandmother, have been indicted in a shocking sex trafficking case that spanned multiple counties, according to authorities. This brazen operation allegedly involved the trafficking of numerous women for sexual servitude across Essex, Middlesex, Plymouth, and Suffolk counties from March 2023 to September 2025.

At the center of this scandal is Gianni Martinez, 23, of Lynn, who is accused of orchestrating the trafficking by setting up online profiles for his victims, engaging with potential buyers, and arranging transportation for them to meet clients. Reports indicate that the victims were forced to hand over any payments they received to Martinez or his grandmother, Rosa Garcia.

Martinez’s alleged reign of terror continued even from behind bars, where he was incarcerated in March 2024. Authorities say he tried to recruit more women while in the Middleton House of Correction. He faces a staggering total of 21 charges, including eight counts of trafficking, five counts of deriving support from prostitution, and two counts of rape.

Garcia is not off the hook either; she’s been charged with deriving support from prostitution and money laundering. Meanwhile, other co-conspirators from Lynn—Wally Nunez, 22; Abner Vaquerano, 23; and Angel Soto-Martinez, 21—were indicted on similar trafficking-related charges, allegedly hired to transport victims to sex buyers.

Authorities have also indicted five men for allegedly paying for sexual conduct, including Andrew Parvey, 53, of Fitchburg, and Mark Barry, 72, of Salem. Prosecutors seized multiple cell phones during their investigation, uncovering text messages that confirmed the victims had engaged in commercial sex acts with these buyers.

This operation was reportedly a collaborative effort involving the Massachusetts State Police, the FBI, and the Lynn Police Department, highlighting the extensive network and the dark underbelly of trafficking that has ensnared the community in a scandalous web of crime and exploitation.
