BOSTON — WBZ-TV quietly cut ties with longtime political analyst Jon Keller today, ending one of the most recognizable media runs in Massachusetts politics.

Keller, who spent roughly two decades delivering commentary on Beacon Hill players and Boston power brokers, was laid off as part of newsroom cuts at the station.

There was no farewell segment, no on-air goodbye, and no drawn-out send-off — just a sudden exit for a fixture of Boston political coverage.

Keller’s “Keller at Large” segments have been a staple of local television for years, offering analysis on everything from gubernatorial races to City Hall battles. His departure marks a major shake-up in Boston’s media landscape at a moment when politics in the state — and the country — are heating up.

WBZ has not said whether the “Keller at Large” brand will continue or who, if anyone, will step into the role.

A familiar voice in Boston political media is suddenly gone.
