BOSTON — Federal immigration authorities arrested a 47-year-old El Salvadoran national last month on serious child-sex-offense charges in Bristol County.

Officials identified the man as Mauricio Eguizabal-Ovalle. According to ICE, he is facing multiple pending child-rape and child-assault charges, including:

• indecent assault and battery (seven counts)
• statutory rape (three counts)
• aggravated rape of a child with a five-year age gap
• indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 (six counts)
• unnatural acts with a child

ICE says the man remained in Massachusetts despite the charges and an existing immigration order and is now in federal custody pending removal proceedings.

The arrest was one of many made during a federal enforcement effort last month.
