WEST BRIDGEWATER β€” Two Massachusetts sisters were arrested after what police describe as a luxury grocery looting spree turned into a violent supermarket brawl over lobster, prime rib, and truffle butter.

According to West Bridgewater Police, Olivia L. Byrd, 37, of Quincy, and Rahjane J. Byrd, 28, of Hyde Park, were arrested Sunday after store employees at a supermarket on West Center Street caught them allegedly concealing high-end food items inside a shopping bag.

Police say the pair were seen hiding lobster meat, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter before skipping the checkout. When workers confronted them, the women allegedly began screaming obscenities and attacking staff in a chaotic aisle brawl that sent shoppers scattering.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. and took both women into custody without further incident. They were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, shoplifting by asportation, and disorderly conduct, according to Chief Timothy Nixon.

Both suspects were arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court and released on personal recognizance.

Police say no serious injuries were reported, though the supermarket scene was described as β€œabsolute chaos.”

The alleged luxury loot β€” lobster, ribeye, and truffle butter β€” was recovered.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
