Officers quickly broadcast descriptions of the suspects, leading to a dramatic foot chase along the streets of the South End. Both suspects, identified as 42-year-old Jahar Pinkett of Dorchester and 29-year-old Anthony Crumbley of Boston, were apprehended shortly thereafter. A search of Pinkett revealed cash consistent with the stolen amount and a plastic bag with what police believe to be crystal methamphetamine.
Pinkett is now facing serious charges, including armed robbery, assault and battery, and possession of a Class B substance. Crumbley has been charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Both individuals are set to appear in Roxbury District Court.
The police blotter reveals that Pinkett had an active warrant for violating an abuse prevention order, adding yet another layer to this disturbing case. With the suspects in custody, the South End community can breathe a little easier, but the scars of this brazen robbery will linger.
