WEBSTER— A 30-year-old man is facing a staggering 29 criminal charges following a brazen five-month crime spree, according to authorities. Gavin Barszcz of Webster allegedly wreaked havoc from April to September, leaving a trail of chaos in his wake.
The trouble began on April 17 when Barszcz reportedly broke into two vehicles. Officers arrested him at the scene, discovering key evidence in his possession—keys and cash from the stolen cars. He was convicted of nighttime breaking and entering and receiving stolen property, but two felony charges were mysteriously dismissed. Currently, he’s on probation until June 11, 2026, and has a hearing for a probation violation scheduled for November 7.

But Barszcz’s antics didn’t stop there. On June 1, police found a stolen motorcycle near 3.5 Wall St. Shortly after, they discovered Barszcz in an apartment where he allegedly confessed to stealing the bike with his mother to fund a drug habit. He’s pleaded not guilty to charges of motor vehicle larceny and conspiracy, among others.
Throughout the summer, Barszcz was seen riding stolen motorcycles, evading police at high speeds and even allegedly pointing a handgun at someone during one of his reckless escapades. He faces multiple charges including negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police.
The situation escalated dramatically with a disturbing incident on September 9, when Barszcz allegedly assaulted a woman, slapping her and smashing glasses, leading to serious injuries. He was subsequently committed to Worcester County House of Correction.
Authorities also connected Barszcz to an audacious armed home invasion in Dudley, where he and an accomplice allegedly stole around $250,000 from an 85-year-old victim. Reports indicate he profited between $50,000 and $100,000 from that crime, using the stolen cash to buy luxury vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz and an Acura MDX, as well as high-end watches and tattoos.
With charges stacking up and multiple legal battles ahead, Barszcz has yet to enter a plea for the latest allegations, which include receiving stolen property over $1,200 and conspiracy. He is scheduled to return to court this week, but it remains to be seen if he can escape the mounting evidence against him.
