BURLINGTON, MA — A coalition of anti-ICE campaigners is planning a 14-hour protest outside a federal immigration office in Burlington this Saturday — a marathon demonstration they’re calling the “Bastion of Democracy.”
The all-day event, organized by the activist group MA 50501, is scheduled from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility at 1000 District Avenue. Organizers describe it as a “peaceful standout” against what they call constitutional violations by federal immigration authorities.
Participants are being encouraged to bring water, snacks, and folding chairs, and to display homemade signs citing their favorite parts of the Constitution. Supporters are also invited to recite the civil servant’s oath of office, according to details posted on the group’s website.

While MA 50501 insists the protest is non-violent, the promotional materials — featuring slogans like “We ride at dawn” and “Melt ICE” — have drawn attention online for their militant tone and early start time. The demonstration is expected to last longer than most full-time workdays, running from sunrise to sunset.
Parking instructions on the event page direct attendees to the Macy’s overflow lot, and the nearest bus stop is listed as the 350/B route near Burlington Mall Road. The group’s site also includes links for donations and printable flyers, emphasizing that it is a “100% volunteer-led” organization.
The Burlington ICE facility, located within a business park near the Burlington Mall, handles administrative and enforcement operations across parts of Massachusetts. Federal employees are expected to work through the protest, which will be monitored by local authorities for safety and access concerns.
The “Bastion of Democracy” event comes amid a string of demonstrations targeting federal agencies across New England — part of a broader activist push to challenge immigration enforcement nationwide.
