BOSTON — Luz Maria Pineda, 32, the woman accused of sending an elderly passenger flying out the door of a crowded MBTA bus, has finally been caught.

The shocking attack took place on September 8 aboard the Route 28 bus at Warren Street in Roxbury. Video shows the senior tumbling headfirst down the stairs before crashing onto the sidewalk, where she lay sprawled and injured until an ambulance arrived.

For more than a week, the city seethed as Pineda’s face was plastered across police bulletins. Now, Transit Police say the search is over — she’s been arrested and is expected to face assault and battery charges for attacking a victim over 60.

The victim survived the fall but was left shaken and hospitalized, a chilling reminder of how routine public transit can turn violent in an instant.

The Route 28, infamous as one of the MBTA’s busiest and most chaotic lines, has now earned another grim distinction: the backdrop for a viral assault that left Boston residents horrified and demanding answers.

From bus stop to jail cell, Pineda’s ride has ended.
