DEDHAM—Brian Walshe, the Cohasset man accused of murdering and dismembering his wife Ana, was stabbed inside Norfolk County Jail on Thursday night in a violent jailhouse altercation. The 48-year-old was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, treated for his injuries, and sent back behind bars. His lawyer confirmed the attack but offered no details on who knifed him or why. The timing is chilling: his murder trial begins October 20.
Walshe has been locked up since January 2023, when prosecutors charged him with killing Ana, a DC real estate executive and mother of three who vanished after New Year’s Eve. Investigators say he butchered her body and then turned to Google with searches like “how to dispose of a body.” Her remains have never been found.

The case against him leans heavily on those grisly searches and evidence pulled from eight seized devices. His defense team has fought to throw the digital trail out, arguing investigators went too far.
Now, with his own blood spilled inside a Dedham cellblock, the accused killer heads toward trial not just as a man facing the state’s evidence, but as an inmate marked in his own jail.
