MALDEN — Two smooth-talking thieves waltzed into a Malden jewelry store Monday afternoon, charmed their way through small talk — and walked out with a Rolex tucked in a pocket. Now police are asking the public to help unmask the slick suspects caught grinning on camera.
The daring theft unfolded on September 8, 2025, around 4:45 p.m., when the pair entered a local shop on Eastern Avenue. According to Malden Police, one man distracted the employee with questions while the other slid a Rolex watch out of its display box, leading staff to believe he was gearing up to buy. Instead, he stuffed the luxury timepiece into his pocket and bolted.

The duo didn’t stick around to admire their prize. Both fled on foot down Eastern Avenue toward Hillside Avenue, and detectives believe they may have jumped into a waiting getaway car.
Police have released crisp surveillance shots of the suspects: two young men, both dressed in black shirts, one sporting a gold chain, the other with slicked-back hair. The images show them casually leaning over the display cases before making off with the high-end score.

The case has been assigned to Detective Renee Kelley, who is urging residents and businesses in the area to check security cameras between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Investigators say any footage of the suspects — or a suspicious vehicle parked nearby — could crack the case wide open.
Malden PD took to social media to blast the images, pleading: “Your cooperation may help us identify those responsible.”
For now, the Rolex is gone, the suspects are at large, and a local jeweler has been left shaking their head at just how easy it was for two men to saunter in, make a scene, and slip out with a watch worth thousands.
